PSG have been in contact with Celtic over a potential glamour pre-season friendly, according to reports.
The French giants have touched base with the Scottish champions with a view to squaring off against Neil Lennon's charges in preparation for the return of both Ligue 1 and the Premiership respectively.
L'equipe claim talks are already underway between Celtic and PSG with the game being pencilled in to be played in July. Thomas Tuchel's men are also scheduled to play their own under-19s squad in a bounce game and one against Le Havre.
They are also weighing up the potential for a friendly against Anderlecht, whom they have also already made contact with.
Celtic boss Neil Lennon has already expressed doubts over his side's pre-season plans, admitting the coronavirus pandemic has made things uncertain. Though he hinted they could be looking to play French sides. He said: "That’s a bit of a headache in trying to get some game time, trying to confirm these clubs and games.
“At the minute we can’t play anybody in England and a lot of other countries, Italy, Spain, are up and going. We may look at some Dutch teams or French teams and get some quality friendlies but at the minute that’s a difficult question to answer.
“We are hoping (the 14-day quarantine rule) would get lifted or there would be some sort of exemption from that, that would be the only possible way we could go about doing that.
“We may have an opportunity to play in a mini-tournament, that’s another avenue we are pursuing as well.”
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
