KILMARNOCK have announced the signing of former Hearts defender Clevid Dikamona on a one-year deal.
The 30-year-old spent two seasons at Tynecastle before leaving in March to return to his native France when the coronavirus pandemic sent the country into lockdown.
The player has not had to wait long for a new offer though, with Alex Dyer snapping up the defender to bolster his defensive ranks for the new campaign.
Speaking to the club’s website, Dikamona said he was delighted to be back in Scotland and is looking forward to playing competitive football once again.
“I feel very happy to be here,” he said. “It’s a real pleasure to be back playing football after everything that has been happening over the past few months.
“I know some of the lads from my time playing against them and I know how the team like to play so hopefully I can really add something to the squad.”
Dyer added that he was impressed with what he saw of Dikamona in the Premiership last season, and expects the new signing to go straight into his matchday squad.
He said: “Clevid has is a strong defender who has experience in this league and I needed someone who could fit in straight away, so I hope he is going to be a good addition to the club.”
Dikamona previously outlined his intention to return to Hearts and help the club’s bid to get back to the top flight at the first time of asking, telling the Daily Record at the end of May: “I would love to return to Hearts.
“I’ve got unfinished business there.
“They are the best club I have played for and I know I can give more than I’ve shown in the last two years.
“For now it’s not up to me. It’s up to Ann and the manager to propose a deal. Since I left the club I’ve had no contact from Hearts but they have more important things to deal with just now.
“When I chose to end my contract three months early I was simply agreeing to help the club by adhering to the requests of the owner.”
