Celtic player Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo has been hit with a five match ban by the SFA for breaching strict coronavirus safety protocols earlier this month.

The defender will serve a three match ban immediately – but two of the matches will be suspended until February 28 next year and will only take effect if he breaks regulations again.

Parkhead left back Bolingoli-Mbombo failed to self-isolate following a trip to Spain - which the Scottish champions were unaware of - and then played in a Premiership match against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.

The SFA and SPFL Joint Response Group accepted a request from the Scottish government for two Celtic games against St Mirren and Aberdeen to be postponed as a result of the incident.

SFA compliance officer Clare Whyte issued the Belgian with a notice of complaint earlier this month for breaching Disciplinary Rule 24 and Disciplinary Rule 71

Disciplinary Rule 24 states that players will comply with the rules, procedures and regulations, bye-laws and decisions of the governing body while Disciplinary Rule 71 stipulates that no player shall bring the game into disrepute.

THE SFA and SPFL Joint Response Group accepted a request from the Scottish government for two Aberdeen and two Celtic games to be postponed as a result of the incident.

Bolingoli, who is set to be disciplined internally by Celtic, was issued with a £480 fixed penalty notice by Police Scotland.
