CELTIC

VASILIS BARKAS 6

Decent saves from Grimshaw and Watt, but very little to do after the interval.

HATEM ELHAMED 6

Got forward in support of Forrest as often as he could, and generally untroubled defensively.

CHRISTOPHER JULLIEN 7

Marshalled Long well at the back, and started many a Celtic attack. Popped up from nowhere late on to finish well for Celtic’s third.

KRIS AJER 7

Physical presence was useful against combative visitors, and provided an extra boy in attack when he could. Great pass for Ajeti goal.

GREG TAYLOR 6

Bombed forward on the left as usual, and would have had an assist but for a bad miss from Klimala.

SCOTT BROWN 6

Picked up an early booking for foul on Mugabi and was tempered thereafter. Quiet afternoon from the skipper.

CALLUM MCGREGOR 8

Stunning turn of pace set Celtic on their way to the opening goal, and was the brightest of Celtic’s midfield three.

JAMES FORREST 7

Had been well marshalled by Grimshaw until he finally found a bit of space five minutes from the break and reminded everyone what he has in his locker with a fine finish to break the deadlock.

OLIVIER NTCHAM 6

Was decent enough on the ball, but didn’t quite have the magic to unlock the visiting defence. Replaced by Ajeti.

MOI ELYOUNOUSSI 5

Another quiet showing from the winger, who struggled to make an impact before being replaced at the break.

RYAN CHRISTIE 6

Deployed as a striker once more and put himself about without having too many chances against the packed Motherwell defence. Moved wide again after break and looked more dangerous.

SUBSTITUTES

PATRYK KLIMALA 3

On at the interval and missed two gilt-edged chances.

ALBIAN AJETI 6

Took his goal well after finding space in box. Great finish to kill the game.

JEREMIE FRIMPONG 6

Trademark pace put third on a plate for Jullien.

MOTHERWELL

TREVOR CARSON 6

Little chance with any of the goals. Good save one-on-one from Klimala.

DECLAN GALLAGHER 6

Scotland man was an assured presence for the Steelmen until posted missing for second.

BEVIS MUGABI 7

Storming forward run had to be halted illegally by Brown to pick up a yellow, and defended well for most part. Slip almost let Klimala in.

RICKI LAMIE 6

Had played well up until affording Forrest far too much room to pick his spot for the opener. Replaced in second half as Motherwell altered shape.

STEPHEN O’DONNELL 5

Deliveries from the right weren’t of his usual high standard, and his error led to Celtic’s opener. Got away with another mistake later on too.

LIAM GRIMSHAW 6

Played on the left and brought out an early save from Barkas before vital ouch denied Forrest a golden chance.

ALAN CAMPBELL 7

The next big Motherwell star. Battled ferociously in the midfield and showed composure on the ball.

MARK O’HARA 6

Competed well in the middle of the park but was caught out of position for Celtic’s second.

LIAM POLWORTH 5

The man to carry the main creative burden for Motherwell after the departure of Turnbull, but set-piece delivery wasn’t up to scratch.

TONY WATT 6

Given a chance after impressing in midweek, and ran his legs off for the cause. Hesitated to squander a decent chance at end of first half before being replaced.

CHRIS LONG 6

Tried his best to give Jullien and Ajer a headache and put in a hell of a shift without much of a sniff.

SUBSTITUTES

CALLUM LANG 4

Gave it his all after replacing Watt.

JORDAN WHITE 4

Offered physical challenge for Ajer and Jullien.

JERMAIN HYLTON 3

Got last few minutes.
