John Barnes believes Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent are not crucial to Rangers' title bid against Celtic.

Both have been linked with moves away from Ibrox this window, but it is understood that Kent is keen to stay in Glasgow despite interest coming from the Premier League.

Morelos on the other hand is still expected to leave Rangers this summer, with a number of European clubs being credited with an interest.

Former Celtic manager John Barnes has been impressed with both players in recent times, but he insists neither are key to a Premiership challenge.

Speaking to BonusCodeBets.co.uk, Barnes said: "The most important thing here is for Steven to have his squad settled without this whole, 'Is he going? Is he staying?' whether it be Kent or Morelos.

"As that will allow the team to focus on the game and to potentially stop Celtic from getting the 10-in-a-row.

"But it’s not crucial that they keep either Morelos or Ryan Kent. What you do want is hungry players that want to play for the club.

"Of course you want to keep your best players, but not keeping them just for the sake of keeping them; it comes down to having right attitude and being a team player.

"From what I’ve seen Ryan Kent is a great player with a stable character and positive attitude so if he stays, that'd be great for Rangers.

"Morelos, it may be a bit different as it seems that he may be ready to move on. If he doesn’t feel settled at Rangers, they may be better of letting him go.

"At the end of the day, the season is well underway in Scotland so it’s crucial to get your team settled to be able to focus on the main task - stopping Celtic from winning the league this season."
