ITALIAN club Roma have distanced themselves from a move for Celtic defender Boli Bolingoli following speculation that the left-back could be on his way to Serie A.

The 25-year-old's future at Parkhead looks to be all but over after the Belgian struggled to nail down a spot in Neil Lennon's starting XI last season and his unsanctioned trip to Spain that caused two of his side's games to be postponed.

Roma were being linked with a move for the full-back after Aleksandar Kolorov completed a move to Antonio Conte's Inter Milan, but now Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph has shot down those rumours on social media.

Posting on Twitter, he wrote: "Roma have distanced themselves from reports linking them to Celtic left-back Boli Bolingoli.

"Our colleagues at @SkySport have been told there's been no contact with the Scottish champions and they are not interested in the player."

He added that English Championship side Middlesbrough and Ligue 1 outfit St Etienne were considering moves for Bolingoli before his coronavirus protocol breach, with only Amiens making a concrete bid for the defender so far this summer.

The French second tier club had approached Celtic over the possibility of a loan move with a future fee in place but have since recruited Liverpool's Adam Lewis on a season-long loan.
