St Johnstone are set to sign Israeli striker Guy Melamed in a bid to solve their goalscoring problems.

The 27-year-old is a free agent after departing Maccabi Netanya this summer due to wage cuts in the top flight in Israel.

Melamed was expected to join Hapoel Tel Aviv, but it is understood that Saints have offered him a route out of his homeland.

The former Hapoel Be’er Sheva jetted into the UK yesterday to pen a deal at McDiarmid Park, but will not be involved against Celtic today.

He has scored 50 goals in 125 starts during his time in Israel and here are some of the best.

Meanwhile, Saints defender Wallace Duffy has been released from the club.

The 21-year-old joined the Perth outfit from Celtic in June 2019 and went on to make 14 first team appearances at McDiarmid Park.
