ROSS WILSON is pleased with Rangers' efforts in the transfer market this summer after rounding off their business with the signing of midfielder Bongani Zungu.
The Light Blues have enjoyed a successful few months of wheeling and dealing as boss Steven Gerrard has bolstered his ranks for a shot at the Premiership title and another Europa League campaign.
It has been a difficult window for clubs at all levels but Sporting Director Wilson is encouraged by the work that has been done at Ibrox amid the Covid-19 crisis.
Wilson told rangers.co.uk: "Bongani is a player whose situation we have monitored throughout the window. We are excited to have him join Rangers.
“Following a difficult and prolonged period of lockdown in South Africa, it would have been hard for him to have joined us at an earlier stage of the window.
“However, we have kept an open and positive dialogue with Bongani and Amiens, and the structure of this agreement works well for all parties.
“The financial impact of Coronavirus is being felt by all clubs in a market that has been like no other that I’ve ever experienced.
"We are pleased with the work we have done during the window across the squad and despite the clear challenges brought by the virus, our board have been keen to continue to invest in the development of the squad and the club.”
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
