CONNOR GOLDSON is confident Rangers won't make the same mistake twice and allow their title challenge to falter after an Old Firm victory.
Steven Gerrard's side were 2-1 winners at Parkhead last term but saw their Premiership aspirations quickly fall apart following the winter break.
The Gers gave their silverware aspirations a huge boost with a 2-0 triumph over Celtic on Saturday as Goldson netted in either half of the derby clash.
And the Englishman is determined to use the win as the springboard to success as Gerrard looks to win the title at the third time of asking.
Goldson said: "It is massive. Old Firms are always massive games and we knew we had to start well and score first and defend well at times because we know they are a good team. I thought we did everything right today. We controlled the game well, defended well, defended our box well and limited their chances and got two goals.
"We have worked on it for two years now, we have played against some top teams with the same shape. The new lads have bought into it and it has always seemed to work for us in big games. We know what we are doing, we have been doing it for a long time and in training for a long time and I think it worked. We limited them to not many chances.
"It is so early in the season, just eleven games played and we need to go onto the European game on Thursday now. We are at home next week and we just need to get another three points and keep progressing as much as we can.
"We didn’t do ourselves justice after we won here the last time and when we came back from the break. We were poor, we didn’t look half the team as before the break so hopefully now this gives us the confidence we need to go and put a big run together."
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
