STEVEN GERRARD has expressed his pride at seeing Ryan Jack help Scotland end their two-decade wait for a return to a major finals last week.

The Rangers midfielder was an integral part of Steve Clarke's squad during the international break and a dramatic victory over Serbia ensured Scotland will feature at Euro 2020 next summer.

Jack has been in fine form once again this term at Ibrox and boss Gerrard said: "It was no surprise to see him play so well. Ryan has been very consistent since we came in here at Rangers.

"The way he applies himself, the way he goes about his daily work, it is no surprise to see him in top form and producing the goods at international level.

"I am really pleased for him, I was proud of his performance and I think it was great to see, being up here and really involved in Scottish football now, to see the country back in a major tournament.

"It was fantastic to watch the celebrations. I want to congratulate Steve, his staff and all the players involved. It was a magnificent achievement."
