CALLUM BOOTH endured a mixture of emotions last week as he penned a contract extension with St Johnstone.

The full back was delighted extend his stay in Perth, but there was also a sense of disappointment for the former Hibs and Partick Thistle man as Saints fell to their fourth straight league defeat.

Attention now turns to Hamilton as Brian Rice’s side visit McDiarmid Park tomorrow and with just four points separating St Johnstone from the bottom of the Scottish Premiership, Booth knows he and his teammates need to start producing results.

He told Saints TV: “You go through these runs every season. We just need to use all the experience that we’ve got to keep believing and keep going and hopefully the results will turn.

“It is very small margins. It is all well and good standing here and saying we are doing okay, but we really need to start getting results.

“We have two massive games the rest of this week to try and get on a little run.

“I think everyone will be aware of the importance of these games coming up, two teams below us, the games are coming thick and fast.

“We are all focused on Wednesday. Unfortunately, Aberdeen was a bad day for us, but it is done now and we need to really regroup and go again.

“You never get an easy game against Hamilton. It is always tough so I am expecting a battle.

“It will be physical, there will be a lot of stoppages, but we need to try and find a way to show our quality and get the better of them.”

On penning his new deal Booth added: “I enjoy it here, I’ve been here over a year now.

“It is a great club and it is just a little extension until the end of the season and we’ll see what happens there.

“I’m happy to get it sorted and now I can focus on my football.”
