STEVEN GERRARD expects Hibernian to react in the right way as they look to bounce back from their Hampden heartache against Rangers.
Boss Jack Ross will attempt to rally his side this evening as Hibernian bid to get back on track following the 3-0 defeat to St Johnstone that denied them a place in the Betfred Cup final.
Rangers have collected four points from their two meetings with Hibs this term and will take another step towards the Premiership title if they can emerge victorious in Edinburgh.
Gerrard said: “I expect Jack to try and get that reaction and response from his players. Everyone tries to do that on the back of a poor result.
“For me, the majority of the focus in our preparation has been on us. We know it is always a tough challenge going to Easter Road.
“But it’s a place where we have always performed really well in my time. We haven’t always got the results our performances there have deserved.
“The first few times we went there, we didn’t take our chances and weren’t ruthless enough in front of goal and only managed to get draws.
“We had a really strong 3-0 win there when we were ruthless in front of goal and defended ever so well.
“The last game there in September was another strong performance in terms of chances created. Scott Arfield had a double chance late on to win it and Ofir Marciano made a fantastic save from Ryan Kent as well.
“But we made individual errors and conceded two sloppy goals. So we know what we need to do, we know what type of performance is needed to get a positive result there.
“It’s about us going there and trying to execute that performance. We are expecting a tough challenge, it’s a team and manager we respect. We’ve already had two really tough games against them this season.”
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
