Motherwell forward Devante Cole is confident that the Fir Park side can add to Celtic’s misery this season.

Graham Alexander’s men go into the weekend’s game on the back of their first home win since October and keen to sustain some momentum.

Celtic have been reduced to playing only for pride and although they picked up three points at Rugby Park on Tuesday night it has been a stuttering campaign from Neil Lennon’s side.

Currently on the wrong end of a shocking 23 point chasm between themselves and league leaders Rangers, Celtic can ill afford to drop further behind.

Cole, though, is confident that Motherwell can ask questions of what has been a notoriously fragile Celtic defence this term.

“It's always a hard test going to Celtic but coming off the back of two wins I think we can go there and just play like we have been doing and see what happens,” said Cole.

"You probably see it yourself, we have got to look up now. We are three points behind United and after two wins we are looking up. We don't want to look behind us, we want to keep on pushing.

“You can see he has come in and it's been something new, something different and all the lads have listened to what he said and we've been a lot better on the pitch since. We have just got to continue that now.”

Cole was on the scoresheet for Motherwell as they beat Dundee United on Wednesday night but the front three of Cole, Tony Watt and Christopher Long carried a fair bit of menace throughout.

“Goals in general make you happy, no matter what it is, as long as you are scoring, as a striker you are happy,” said Cole.

“As a striker I try my best to score all sorts of goals and I should probably have add another one. But whatever goals come my way, I will take them happily.

“On another day we could all have had had two each, but if you look at the second goal, we were all involved. Into Tony, into me, and to Longy, and he scores. As a front three you are happy when everything is working like that.”

And Cole remains cautiously optimistic that Motherwell can ease themselves firmly away from the bottom end of the table.

“Every club, all players, go through periods when things aren't quite working and as a team you have just got to come through it. I think we have come out the other side of it now and things are starting to click again. It's about being together and coming through those times.”
