KEMAR ROOFE is set to lead the Rangers attack against Hamilton on Sunday despite being hit by a Scottish FA Notice of Complaint following his challenge on Murray Davidson during the win over St Johnstone.

The striker was shown a yellow card by referee David Munro for a strong tackle during the first half of a 1-0 victory for Steven Gerrard's side as they re-established their 23 point lead over Celtic at the top of the table.

Saints boss Callum Davidson insisted there was no 'malice' in the foul but Roofe has now been ordered to appear at a Fast Track Tribunal Hearing on Tuesday as he faces the prospect of a two-match suspension.

Boss Gerrard is already without Alfredo Morelos against Accies as he serves the second match of his retrospective ban for stamping on Hibernian defender Ryan Porteous at Easter Road last month.

Rangers have until Monday night to respond to the charge against Roofe and that will leave the 28-year-old free to face Accies as the champions-elect look to move within five wins of the Premiership title.

Gerrard only discovered that Roofe was facing a suspension just minutes before he conducted his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon after stepping up his preparations for the meeting with Brian Rice's side.

Gerrard said: "In terms of having a think and time to decide what we are going to do as a club, we will do that in due course.

"In terms of the tackle, I haven’t really thought that much of it because the referee dealt with it, he was five yards away and has obviously seen the incident and given a yellow card.

"Only up until 10, 15 minutes ago we have had this decision thrust upon us. We have got until Monday, the end of play, to decide what to do and we will take our time and decide what to do from there."
