TOMMY WRIGHT has agreed a deal to become the next Kilmarnock manager.

The Northern Irishman will pen a contract with the Rugby Park outfit tomorrow and will return to management after leaving St Johnstone last summer.

Wright will replace Alex Dyer who left Killie last week following a poor run of form that saw him win just two games in eleven matches.

Wright is held in legendary status by St Johnstone fans following his seven-year managerial stint in Perth.

During his time at McDiarmid Park the 57-year-old delivered a first major trophy in the way of the 2014 Scottish Cup, while also producing numerous top half finishes and European excursions for the Tayside club.

His first game in charge for Kilmarnock will come against Motherwell on Wednesday night where he will aim to turn the Ayrshire side’s fortunes round in a bid to avoid a relegation battle.

Killie are currently in tenth place in the Scottish Premiership, just four points ahead of Hamilton at the foot of the table.

Head of football operations James Fowler said: "It is about the new manager finding something different. He will hopefully find something in the group to bring us success.

"I think there is still quality in this group. It is easy for players to go into their shells, but it is important we stick together."
