SCOTLAND internationalist Declan Gallagher will move to Pittodrie at the end of the current campaign after agreeing a two-year deal at Aberdeen.

The Motherwell defender's contract at Fir Park expires at the end of the season, allowing the 30-year-old to leave for nothing this summer.

Gallagher has signed a two-year deal and is the Dons' second pre-contract agreement, with Celtic captain Scott Brown also heading to the Granite City this summer.

“We are delighted to be able to add someone of Declan’s quality to the first team," manager Steven Glass told the club's website.

“He is one of the country’s top centre backs and played a prominent role in Scotland’s qualification for the Euro’s this summer.

“Declan was highly sought after and we beat off stiff competition to get him here, but it’s really encouraging to see he believes Aberdeen is the correct place for the next stage of his career and we are eagerly looking forward to working with him when he arrives in the summer.”

Gallagher spent time at Dundee and Livingston before moving to Motherwell, making 72 appearances in all competitions across two seasons.

The centre-back could yet add to that tally with two league fixtures left to play this season before he departs Fir Park for Pittodrie.
