Raith Rovers have appointed a new chief executive in the wake of their Premiership play-off quarter-final win over Dunfermline.

Karen Macartney will take over the role with immediate effect.

The club confirmed this morning that Macartney's role will focus on strengthening the infrastructure off the field and look to develop partnerships in the community and within the Scottish game.

Speaking to the club website, Macartney told of her pride at taking the position. "Significant progress has been made at Raith Rovers FC this season, especially the team’s outstanding performance in the SPFL Championship," she said. "Furthermore, we have a great platform upon which to continue to build Raith Rovers in the community, while continuing to support the other members of the Raith Family.

"I have been impressed with the commitment to, and the roles that are undertaken by the volunteer team that supports Raith Rovers, together with the hard work and loyalty from the staff, sponsors and fans.

"There is no doubt that there will be some tough times ahead both on and off the pitch as we continue to come out of lockdown. However, I am looking forward to this exciting challenge and to working alongside the RRFC family – Volunteers, Supporters, Staff and the board of directors – in helping them to achieve their ‘goals! on and off the park."
