STEVEN GERRARD will ask one of his main men to 'park his ego up' and fill-in at left-back against Livingston as he deals with a lengthy injury list at Ibrox.

Rangers make the trip to the Tony Macaroni Arena aiming to move within 90 minutes of an unbeaten Premiership campaign this term but Gerrard will be without several members of his first team squad.

The most pressing issues come in defence after Leon Balogun and Filip Helander were ruled out for the season and Borna Barisic left facing a race against time to be fit for the visit of Aberdeen this weekend.

Nathan Patterson and Calvin Bassey are still serving their suspensions for breaching Covid rules and Bongani Zungu also misses out for that same reason as Gerrard deals with injuries to Scott Arfield and Ryan Jack.

Midfielder Joe Aribo could be asked to pitch in and deputise for Barisic at left-back and, when asked about his selection issues, Gerrard joked: "Have you not heard the news that I have registered myself and I am going to play the first 60 minutes?!

"Look, it is my job to find a solution. It is not ideal. We have worked all week on a few different options.

"I don’t want to give anything away, I am sure Davie will be trying to listen and get any advantage he can.

"We are going to ask someone to do a role that is not his main role but he hopefully will sacrifice himself for the team, park his ego up and try and deliver a job for us in that position and we will go from there.

"We will have a strong team. We have got injuries and numbers wise we are not in the perfect situation but it won’t be an excuse because we have got more than enough to go there and try and win the game."
