Ryan Gauld won the Primeira Liga player of the month award for April - but it won't be enough to convince Steve Clarke to take him with the Scotland squad to Euro 2020.

The playmaker has been in scintillating form for Farense despite their poor league position and picked up the monthly gong.

He has scored nine goals and provided seven assists for his club this season and sealed nine man of the match awards to boot. But Herald and Times Sport understands the former Dundee Utd and Hibs starlet has not been named in Clarke's 26-man squad for the competition.

Gauld, 25, was not contacted by the SFA or provided with "fit for duty" papers that come with a call-up to the national squad.

It is understood there has been a preliminary 30-man list created by Clarke - and Gauld did not make the cut for that list either.

There remains questions over the Scotland squad to be announced tomorrow, with Billy Gilmour of Chelsea, David Turnbull of Celtic and Leigh Griffiths's spots still up in the air.
