Craig Gordon 7
Came into the starting line-up at short notice to replace David Marshall and fared well. Could do nothing for either goal. Made a brilliant save towards the end to tip Patrick van Aanholt’s deflected shot behind for a corner.
Kieran Tierney 8
Kept things quiet on his side of the defence while the odd marauding run down the left caused problems whenever he tried it. A rock at the back. Fast becoming Scotland’s most important player.
Liam Cooper 6
Excellent last-man tackle to deny Dumfries towards the end of the first half. A solid if unspectacular showing from the Leeds defender – but that will be exactly what Steve Clarke was looking for. Composed in the tackle and calm with the ball at his feet.
Jack Hendry 7
Terrific strike to get his first international goal after bursting forward from deep. Solid at the back too – an excellent night’s work from the centre-back. Recovered after taking a sore one from Juventus’ Matthijs de Ligt at the end of the first half to clear a goal-bound cross off the line in the second.
Andrew Robertson 7
Fairly quiet evening from the Liverpool defender. Did well to cover the space vacated by Tierney whenever the Arsenal man bombed forward. Excellent delivery for Kevin Nisbet for the second meant the Hibs striker could hardly miss.
James Forrest 6
Slotted in as an auxiliary right wing-back in Stephen O’Donnell and Nathan Patterson’s absences but might just have a future there off the back of this showing. Positioning was a little off at times at the back but linked up well with Turnbull.
Stuart Armstrong 7
Showed superb tenacity to win the ball back for Hendry’s opener. Was a real threat when driving directly at the Dutch defence with the ball at his feet. Thrived in the little pockets of space down the left and combined well with his team-mates.
Callum McGregor 5
Gave the ball away sloppily on a couple of occasions early on and never looked entirely comfortable with the Dutch midfield’s intense pressing. Improved as the game wore on but we didn’t see the best of the midfielder.
David Turnbull 6
Was guilty of switching off and losing his marker for the Netherlands’ equaliser, affording Memphis the freedom of Faro to drill the ball home for 1-1. Grew into the game as it wore on. Really unfortunate not to mark his debut with a goal after scraping the paint off the post in the second half.
Ryan Christie 7
Worked tirelessly as he harried after the Dutch defenders. Played a crucial role for the second as he carried the ball forward and forced his opponent to commit before releasing Robertson.
Lyndon Dykes 6
Decent effort moments after the opening goal that forced a smart stop from Tim Krul but he should have perhaps done a little better. Threw his frame about and worked hard but could have offered more of a goal threat.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
