Hibs have swiped Jake Doyle-Hayes from St Mirren after his Dundee Utd move collapsed.

The Irishman, 22, spent last season at the Buddies where he made 30 appearances in all competitions.

The Tangerines were initially hopeful of bringing the midfielder to Tannadice but pulled the plug allowing their Premiership rivals to swoop in and arrange a transfer.

And he admitted a conversation with Jack Ross convinced him to make the switch to Easter Road. He told the club website: "After speaking to the manager, I was delighted to get this opportunity.

"Coming into a squad where we’re looking to challenge for medals is definitely something I want to be a part of. Looking at the players here, there’s some unbelievable talents and I’m really looking forward to being a part of that.

"I enjoy both sides of the game. I enjoy digging in and defending and helping the back four, but I also like chipping in with a few assists and maybe a couple of goals if I am lucky."

Meanwhile former Hibee Ofir Marciano today completed his move to Feyenoord in the Eredivisie.
