Mixed relays are a new addition to this year's Olympics, with events taking place in swimming, triathlon and athletics.

With track and field now underway, the 4x400m mixed relay final will take place on Saturday.

Team GB have made the final after setting a British record and qualifying as fastest losers.

Here's what you need to know about the GB Team, when they are racing and their chances of a medal.

Who is in GB's mixed 4x400m relay team?

GB's 4x400m mixed relay team is made up of Joseph Brier, Zoey Clark, Emily Diamond and Cameron Chalmers, in the order they ran the heat.

Teams can choose how to race the event and the order of the relay, however every team so far has chosen to run man, woman, woman, man.

Both Brier and Chalmers will also run the men's 4x400m relay.

What time is the mixed 4x400m relay final?

The mixed 4x400m relay will take place at 13:35 UK time on Saturday July 31.

GB will line up in lane 2 against Spain, Belgium, Ireland, Poland, Netherlands, Jamaica and Germany.

Poland, Netherlands and Jamaica are the three fastest teams based on season bests, so other teams will be looking to challenge them in the upcoming final.

Why have mixed events been added to the Olympic programme?

According to the IOC president, the Tokyo games aimed to be "more youthful, more urban and include more women".

Adam Peaty said the inclusion of mixed events brought "more fun" to the Olympics.

"It's something that would make things [at the Olympics] a little bit more fun.

"Obviously it's very serious, but it's great to mix things up from what they've been for so long as it adds a little spice and they're great to watch."
