SCOTT ARFIELD will put Rangers' historic 55th title to the back of his mind as Steven Gerrard's side bid for further silverware successes this season.

Rangers ended their decade-long wait for the Premiership crown by storming to glory last term and completing an unbeaten league campaign that saw them finish 25 points clear of Celtic.

Arfield would play a key part in that success and scored seven times in 45 appearances as Rangers also reached the last 16 of the Europa League for the second consecutive season.

Now the midfielder is eager to be an influential presence once again in the coming months ahead of Rangers' return to the Champions League and their bid for domestic glories.

Arfield told RangersTV: “I can take a lot of satisfaction from it.

“I started on the bench and then made my way into the team and played a huge role in those months.

“But then I got injured and had to try to get back to full fitness in the back end of the season.

“But I watched the boys and they finished the end of the season as strongly as they started it.

“That shows the importance of pre-season because when you get into that February to May period, the fitness you need is all built up here.

“We treat this extremely importantly and I think we’ll be good going forward again.

“We’ll look back on this for years to come but it’s gone. It’s history and it’s a new season.

“We’ve got the plaudits for an amazing campaign but it’s finished and if we don’t back it up now it kind of means it’s for nothing.

“We’ve all still got years on our contracts and a chance to make history at this football club.

“We’ve got an amazing opportunity to take it forward and go again.”
