JOHN LUNDSTRAM admits Rangers shot themselves in the foot as two crucial Premiership points were squandered against Hearts.
The champions were on course for a huge Ibrox victory after Lundstram netted his first league goal with a lovely strike just before the break.
But a series of missed chances would cost Rangers dear in the end as Craig Halkett made the most of a rare error from Allan McGregor and headed home a dramatic late equaliser.
Rangers now turn their attentions to the must-win Europa League clash with Brondby on Thursday night as they attempt to kick-start their faltering continental campaign.
And Lundstram cut a disconsolate figure as he came to terms with a costly draw on an afternoon where Rangers should have extended their lead at the top of the table.
"Massive. Massive. Stinging," Lundstram told RangersTV when asked about the sense of frustration at seeing two points dropped at Ibrox.
"I thought we had done enough to be clear but we have just got to finish our chances. I think we shot ourselves in the foot there at the end.
"I think we done enough to come away with the three points. We created enough chances to bury the game and we never. We have been punished for it.
"First half, fair enough, we were good. But, for me, just disappointed because I feel that we need to be winning that game.
"Top of the table clash, go four points clear if we win. It is just my opinion, some people might take the positives, of course, and there are positives to take from the game first half.
"But I would rather play worse and win. Shot ourselves in the foot and we should have won the game.
"[Thursday night is] massive. We have got to dust ourselves down and go again.
"Get this out of our system today and tomorrow and, come Monday, we will be in and focused on Brondby because we need three points."
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
