FORMER Motherwell coach Maurice Ross has been appointed as Cowdenbeath's new manager.

The ex-Rangers ace has been out of the game since leaving Notts County earlier this year.

Ross has been out of football since leaving his post as assistant boss at National League Notts County in May.

The 40-year-old coached at Egersunds in Norway before taking charge at TB/FC Suduroy/Royn then Vikingur in the Faroes.

He worked at Fir Park under Stephen Robinson before moving south to the National League at Notts County.

His departure was marred with controversy though as he but resigned after a "racially insensitive" comment directed at Dutch winger Enzio Boldewijn.

Ross later apologised for the incident, but has not been involved in football since.

Now, he takes over the reigns at struggling League Two outfit Cowdenbeath.

Chairman Donald Findlay said: “I am delighted to confirm Maurice Ross as our new manager.

“Maurice is a highly regarded young coach and will bring a new approach to the club.

“He is determined to be successful as a coach, is very ambitious and is determined to take our club with him in an upward direction.”

The Blue Brazil are rock bottom of the table with just one win all season.
