RYAN Fraser, the Newcastle United winger, has pulled out of the Scotland squad for the Qatar 2022 qualifiers against Moldova and Denmark.

Meanwhile, John Souttar, the Hearts centre half, has been drafted into the national squad for the Group F doubler header.

Souttar replaces Grant Hanley, the Norwich City defender who was forced to withdraw on Friday due to a groin injury, in Steve Clarke's pool.

The 25-year-old has won three caps for his country, but has been plagued by injuries in the last couple of seasons and last donned a dark blue jersey back in 2018.

Scotland can clinch second spot in their section and a World Cup play-off place if they defeat Moldova in Chisinau on Friday evening.

Clarke will be without Ryan Christie and Lyndon Dykes for the match in the Zimbru Stadium due to suspensions.
