RANGERS have moved quickly to replace a sign outside Ibrox after Steven Gerrard's move to Aston Villa.

The former Ibrox boss sealed a switch to Premier League club Villa this morning on a three-and-a-half year deal.

It leaves Rangers chiefs searching for their next appointment with Gerrard headed south with a number of his backroom staff.

And while work is underway to find Gerrard's successor, a sign outside Ibrox were quickly changed tonight to remove images of the former manager.

A billboard outside the entrance to the stadium previously pictured Gerrard in Rangers gear alongside the words 'Welcome to Ibrox'.

However, this has been removed with club captain James Tavernier now pictured in the signage.

STV reporter Louise Scott shared an image of the new sign just before 7pm tonight.
