RANGERS coach Graeme Murty has revealed he has tested positive for Covid-19.

The Head of Elite Academy Development at Rangers told followers of the news he received on his 47th birthday today.

Murty bemoaned the timing of the Track and Trace alert falling on his birthday as he thanked followers for their messages.

The timing comes as a blow for Murty, but could also be a problem for Rangers with the coach previously filling in as a caretaker manager for the Ibrox club.

And while club chiefs are hopeful of appointing a new boss by their next match, Murty may have been involved in preparation before the new man comes in.

However, he will now be forced to isolate after the positive test result.

Posting on Twitter, Murty wrote: "Lovely text from track and trace at 7:30 this morning wishing me Happy Birthday and confirming that I have COVID-19. Great timing.

"Hope to be feeling better soon. Thanks to everyone for their kind birthday wishes they are much appreciated"
