ALEX Lowry has confessed that making his Rangers debut in the Scottish Cup fourth round win over Stirling Albion on Friday night has whetted his appetite for more first team appearances.

Lowry, the Scotland Under-19 midfielder, scored the opening goal in the Scottish champions’ comfortable 4-0 triumph and impressed supporters inside Ibrox with his assured all-round performance.

He only got his chance because Giovanni van Bronckhorst had rested Glen Kamara, Scott Wright and Ryan Kent, Scott Arfield and Steven Davis were unavailable and Joe Aribo is away at the African Cup of Nations.

But the 18-year-old, who replaced Ianis Hagi in the first-half when the playmaker suffered an injury, is keen to feature more for the Glasgow giants in the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign.

“Now I have had a taste, do I want more of it?” he said. “I would say 100 per cent. The aim is to try to stay in the boss’ plans for as long as possible and see where that takes me. It’s up to the manager, but I will try to stay in his eyeline.

“It’s been brilliant training with the first team and it’s another level up. It’s something you need to deal with if you want to play for this club.

“Working under the boss, Dave (assistant manager Vos) and Roy (first team coach Makaay) will make me better. They told me to play my own game and be relaxed and to go out and do the things I would normally do at B team level and implement it into the match.”
