SOUTHAMPTON have opened negotiations with Rangers over the proposed transfer of Joe Aribo.

The 25-year-old is wanted by several Premier League clubs this summer.

Ralf Hassenhuttl’s side have now entered talks with the Ibrox club about the player as they work on agreeing a fee.

Aribo has a £10million release clause as part of his current contract - and Rangers are standing firm over that valuation.

Aribo has less then 12-months remaining on his deal.

But Southampton are said to be confident of landing the Nigeria international.

The attacking midfielder is keen to move to the Premier League at this stage of his career.

He joined Rangers from Charlton in 2019 for a fee of around £300,000.

He was a near ever-present last term under Steven Gerrard and Giovanni van Bronckhorst, making 57 appearances in all competitions.
