KRIS BOYD has warned Rangers star Alfredo Morelos that he "needs to get his finger out".

The Ibrox hero has doubled down on his claims that the Colombian is clearly overweight.

The hitman is believed to have been ready for a return to the Gers starting line-up for weeks.

He made an instant impact off the bench against Kilmarnock two-weeks ago.

However, since then, his minutes have been severely limited.

Boyd wrote in his weekly column that "everyone can see he's overweight".

Now, speaking on Sky Sports ahead of today's game between Hibs and Rangers, he's doubled down on his criticism.

James McFadden made the point that Morelos needs games to get fit.

Boyd then said: "I think that's an issue though, James. We've all been there when you say 'you need games to get fit'.

"Those days are gone. You need to be fit in training if you're going to be given the opportunity to get into a starting XI.

"Alfredo Morelos needs to get his finger out because he's lacking severely in fitness.

"I know it's a cheek coming from me."

Fellow pundit Aiden McGeady then posed the question of whether Morelos has earned the right to perhaps be less fit than others in the squad.

Boyd responded: "No, I don't. Would I be able to get away with what I did years ago? No.

"The goals don't move, but you've got to be fit to play games of football nowadays.

"The big thing for me is you need to be fit in training. Looking at Morelos, he's not."
