ANGE POSTECOGLOU says that Celtic cannot afford to stand still as he admitted the possibility that new players may be joining his squad as early as this week.

Celtic have been linked with moves for numerous targets recently despite adding seven players to their title-winning squad this summer, with winger Sead Haksabanovic understood to be their latest potential recruit in a cut-price deal from Rubin Kazan.

The Celtic manager suggested that move may be close after watching his team see off Hearts by two goals to nil at Celtic Park, and that he may not be the last body to be added to his changing room over the coming days.

“Yeah, there is a possibility [of players coming in this week],” Postecoglou said.

“We can’t stand still. We’re still building.

“Every now and then I’ll glance at the diary and if you go back 12 months from today, you’re going to have a very different picture of what our football club looked like.

“We’ve made a hell of a lot of progress, but we’re still at the beginning.

“I’m still building a team, building a game style, building an environment. There’s still work to be done.

“Just because you have had success or it looks like things are going well, that’s not the time to stand still.

“I still know there’s a lot of work to be done. My ambitions for this football club are very strong in terms of making sure we are the best we can be.

“So, we’ll continue to strengthen with the guys we’ve got, but if opportunities come along to bring people in who I think will help us on that journey, then I’ll bring them in.”
