A SECOND Northern Ireland player has been withdrawn from the international squad after a "historic social media video" was circulated online.
Earlier this week Kyle Lafferty was removed from the squad amid an investigation into an alleged sectarian slur.
The Kilmarnock striker, 35, was withdrawn with the Irish FA citing a social media video being shared online alongside the investigation at his club.
The Ayrshire side say they are aware of the clip and are looking into the accusations.
Now, another member of the Northern Ireland squad has been withdrawn from action.
Glentoran's Conor McMenamin has been removed over a "historic social media video" which has been circulated online.
An Irish FA statement read: "In light of an historic social media video which has been circulated, Northern Ireland senior men’s team player Conor McMenamin has been withdrawn from the squad."
Northern Ireland boss Ian Baraclough commented: “It’s a distraction you’d rather not have.
“To happen so close to kick-off time. I thought we did the right thing in pulling Conor out of the squad.
“It needs to be looked at. Clearly it’s an historic video from social media, from when he was 16 I think. I’m not sure where it’s going to go at this time.”
On Lafferty's withdrawal from the squad an Irish FA statement confirmed: "Northern Ireland senior men’s team player Kyle Lafferty has been withdrawn from the squad ahead of the upcoming UEFA Nations League games against Kosovo and Greece.
"The Irish Football Association is aware of a social media video which has been circulated widely. The association also notes an investigation has been launched into the video by the striker’s club, Kilmarnock FC.
"A minor back problem has prevented Lafferty from participating in training since Tuesday."
A Kilmarnock statement on Thursday read: "Kilmarnock Football Club are aware of a video circulating online which appears to show a member of our playing staff using language of a sectarian nature.
"The club finds all forms of discriminatory behaviour completely unacceptable. The matter will be investigated by the club."
