HOLDERS Celtic and last season’s beaten finalists Glasgow City will both be in tomorrow’s Sky Sports Cup quarter-final draw after beating Partick Thistle and Aberdeen in a double header at Petershill Park.

Celtic looked to be heading for a big win when they dominated the opening half hour and led through goals from Lucy Ashworth-Clifford and Jacynta. But there was a sharp deterioration and there was no further scoring.

“We were outstanding for 30 minutes – I really liked how the team played, and the tempo was incredible,” manager Fran Alonso said. “Then it was 60 our worst minutes of the season, but if we can replicate what we did in the first 30, we can beat any team.”

City beat Aberdeen 5-0 in the second game, with winger Lauren Davdson getting two of the goals.

SWPL leaders Rangers beat second-tier Queen’s Park 5-0 at New Tinto Park. Malky Thomson made five changes to the side which was knocked out of the Champions League by Benfica in midweek, and one of them, striker Kirsty Howat, led the way with a hat-trick.

Hibernian, who won the League Cup seven times between 2005 and 2019,hammered Hamilton Accies 8-0 at New Douglas Park.

By contrast, the closest second-round tie was between Hearts and Spartans at Oriam.

The visitors took the lead in nine minutes through Alana Marshall, but Rebecca

McAllister equalised in the second half for Hearts. There was no more scoring in regulation time and it was still 1-1 after extra time.

Both sides missed one of their five penalties so it went to sudden death. Louise Mason scored for Spartans, and then Hearts striker Katie Rood had her effort saved by Rachel Harrison.

The other all-SWPL tie resulted in Motherwell beating Dundee United 2-1.

Glasgow Women beat SWPL 2 side Stirling University 2-1 and Kilmarnock are the only second-tier side in the draw following at 2-0 win over Gartcairn.
