CALLUM MCGREGOR says that Giorgos Giakoumakis and Josip Juranovic remain focused on Celtic despite speculation over their futures, with both players likely to leave the club during this transfer window.

Giakoumakis has pushed for a move away from Celtic after seeing his game-time limited this season due to the form of Kyogo, with Serie A side Sampdoria and J-League outfit Urawa Red Diamonds both interested in the Greek forward.

Juranovic meanwhile has attracted suitors from across Europe following his impressive performances at the World Cup, and with the arrival of Canadian international Alistair Johnston earlier in the window, Celtic are prepared to do business for their Croatian right-back.

The Celtic captain believes though that every member of the squad will be blocking out that speculation and focusing fully on Saturday’s League Cup semi-final against Kilmarnock as Ange Postecoglou’s men look to retain what was the first trophy of his reign.

When asked if he sensed if any heads had been turned during this transfer window, McGregor said: “No, we have good players who are good professionals.

“The group’s only focus is this game at the weekend and then we take it forward and look at the next one.

“We all understand football. There will be speculation, these things will happen. Your job as a football player is to put that to one side and focus on the job at hand.

“We have a really good bunch of players who are really single minded about their football. The speculation is just noise until anything happens, at which point we will deal with that as a club.

“In terms of players coming in and players going out that is just everyday football speculation.

“We have to focus on the job, which is delivering success on the pitch.”
