Michael Beale has admitted he expects Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent to have options in the summer as their Rangers contracts expire.

The pair are free to discuss pre-contract moves with their Ibrox terms up at the end of the season and no extended deals yet tabled by Rangers.

But Beale defended Rangers' position on expiring contracts with Allan McGregor, Scott Arfield and Ryan Jack also running out of time on their current deals.

The Ibrox boss insisted his full focus was on stabilising the team and ensuring all player focus was on results and not on contract decisions.

Beale insisted the contract scenario "doesn't have to make sense to anybody other than ourselves" when quizzed on Morelos and Kent.

But he did admit he has held personal discussions with some Ibrox first-team players over their future.

Beale explained: "Listen, I think they're both going to have options in the summer. I just want to see where this squad is and where it's going.

"I think I have come back in and tried to give the team stability with some of the old things that we did when I was here previously.

"We had a lot of injuries when I came in, we've stabilised it and only lost one game in 16 - so I have gone with stability but you are going to see change.

"In terms of Ryan (Kent), and Alfredo (Morelos), Ryan Jack, Scott Arfield, Allan (McGregor), all of those guys; I've wanted to focus on the football.

"So, whatever chats went on before I came in...of course I've had some personal chats with the boys, but we haven't put anything in front of anyone because we want to see how things move in the coming weeks.

"It doesn't have to make sense to anybody other than ourselves.

"Of course I have spoken to those boys, the most important thing is I want them to focus on football. I have been delighted with both Alfredo and Ryan - but every player really, no one has given me a problem since I've come back in, regardless of their status and where they are contract-wise."
