Scotland are set to take on England in a historic clash at next year’s T20 World Cup.

The two nations have never played each other over this format but are being lined up to feature in the same group for the finals that take place in the West Indies and the United States in June.

Australia are also expected to be part of that five-team group, with Scotland’s matches likely to take place in Barbados and possibly also Antigua. Scotland’s opening fixture is pencilled in for June 4.

The previous meeting between Scotland and England took place in 2018 at the Grange when the hosts landed a famous six-run one-day international victory over an England team ranked number one in the world at that time.

The Saltires have similarly never played Australia in a T20I. They last faced each other at the 2015 50-over World Cup in Hobart, a match Australia won by seven wickets.

Unlike many other major sports, the ICC [International Cricket Council] doesn’t conduct live televised draws for their World Cups, instead creating a set of fixtures most likely to prove appealing to a global audience.

India and Pakistan will once again be in the same group, with their fixture slated to take place in New York.
