Philippe Clement has blasted the unacceptable contract situation at Rangers and warned the club is "throwing away money".

The Ibrox manager has insisted the current scenario - with six players out of contract at the end of the season - will never happen again under his watch.

Borna Barisic, Leon Balogun, Ryan Jack, Jon McLaughlin, Kemar Roofe and John Lundstram all have their contracts up at the end of the season.

And Clement branded the situation "crazy" as he insisted there is "a lot of work to be done" on the handling of contracts at Ibrox.

Clement explained: "You need a good balance in the way you work and you need players who are in contract in your club.

"Like this season, to have five players out of contract, it's a crazy situation because you are throwing away money.

"They are no value any more if their contract is ended. There's a lot of work to be done in that way.

"Everybody in the club is working hard in that way. There is now a clear vision in how to bring money into the club by developing the players but getting results also and winning trophies.

"It's all of that together, it's not based on one thing. You don't come into a situation with players of value going out of contract and can leave for free.

"It's a situation that while I lead the club that can never happen."

Quizzed on whether he will hand out new deals to those players with their contracts up in the summer, Clement added: "It's case by case. It depends how they performed in the last couple of months and it's not only me.

"I'm not the guy from the money, I'm the guy from the sporting side, luckily otherwise I would be poor really fast because I don't have that money.

"I will give my opinion about that like always. That's a good thing in the club, it's really transparent.

"Everybody is doing it together. It's not a political club where some people are talking that way and others on that way so everybody is really aligned.

"It doesn't mean that everybody will always agree. You have discussions about things but it needs to be that way."
