Adam Montgomery has returned to Celtic after sustaining a serious injury.

The defender joined Motherwell on loan in January after being recalled by the champions from his time at Fleetwood Town.

However, after just one appearance for the Steelman, the left-back, 21, has returned to Lennoxtown.

It's said that the injury, sustained in training, to the young Scot will keep him out of action for a 'considerable period of time,' so the decision has been taken for his rehabilitation to take place at his parent club

A statement from the Fir Park side reads: "Adam Montgomery has suffered a serious injury that will keep him out for a considerable period of time.

"The full-back, who had joined on loan from Celtic, made his debut in the 3-1 victory over Alloa Athletic in the Scottish Cup.

"However, he had to withdraw from a training session and has since undergone scans to determine the issue.

"Montgomery has now returned to Celtic to undergo his rehabilitation. Speedy recovery, Adam."

Meanwhile, Marco Tilio will not be returning to Celtic after his time at the Asian Cup comes to an end.

The attacker is currently on international duty with Australia at the continental competition.

However, he won't be travelling back to Glasgow upon its conclusion, with a loan move back to his homeland Down Under confirmed.

The 22-year-old will spend the remainder of the season on loan at Melbourne City.

He spent three seasons with the club before making the move to Celtic in the summer.

He said: "I’m thrilled to be back at City. The memories and experiences from my time here are unforgettable, and I can’t wait to contribute to the team’s success once again.

"The support from the fans has always been incredible, and I’m eager to create more memorable moments together this season.”
