Groningen striker Kevin van Veen has joined Kilmarnock on loan until the end of the season.

The former Motherwell striker was the subject of transfer interest from a variety of club, including fellow Scottish Premiership side St Mirren.

However, he has opted to sign for Derek McInnes' men. The 32-year-old thrived at Fir Park, netting 29 goals in 44 appearances for Stuart Kettlewell's side last season.

He was voted into that year's PFA Scotland Team of the Year and was nominated for the PFA Scotland Players' Player of the Year award

Van Veen moved to Eerste Divisie side FC Groningen in last summer and netted scoring 5 goals in 15 games.

The move is Kilmarnock's third of the January window with Greg Stewart and James Balagizi also joining the Ayrshire club.
