Scotland will discover their Nations League opponents in today's UEFA draw.

Steve Clarke's side are in the elite League A division for the first time this year after promotion from League B with a table-topping showing last time in the competition.

It means Scotland will mix with Europe's elite in the top tier of the competition with possible groups including Spain, Germany and France.

When is the Nations League draw? 

The Nations League group draw takes place on Thursday, February 8.

The draw will take place in Paris with a 5pm starting time.

Who could Scotland face in the Nations League? 

Scotland are in pot four for their first appearance in the top-tier of the Nations League.

It means Scotland will face one nation from each of pots one, two and three.

With Scotland in the lowest seeding of the top section for the draw, it means Clarke's men could feature in a group alongside some heavy hitters including Spain, Italy and Germany.

Pot 1: Spain, Croatia, Italy, Netherlands

Pot 2: Denmark, Portugal, Belgium, Hungary

Pot 3: Switzerland, Germany, Poland, France

Pot 4: Israel, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Scotland

What is the format of the Nations League?

The Nations League has been expanded by UEFA this year with a knockout round to be played in March next year before the finals in June.

Should Scotland finish in the top two of their group they will enter a two-legged quarter-final with winners of the ties advancing to the finals of the Nations League.

If Scotland finish third in their group then they will enter a relegation play-off against a team that finished second in one of the League B groups.

Fourth-placed sides will automatically be relegated to League B.
