Frustrated Stephen Robinson has admitted he's unsure what VAR is there for after a handball decision was reportedly not checked in the match between Ross County and St Mirren.

The visitors were convinced they should have had a penalty when Ryan Leak handled in the Ross County penalty area.

However, Sky Sports report the incident was not checked by VAR officials with only a potential shirt pull on James Bolton by Leak reviewed for a possible penalty.

The match was broadcast live on Sky Sports and pundits James McFadden and Kris Boyd slaughtered the missed handball as commentator Ian Crocker revealed the incident was not checked.

St Mirren manager Robinson was left frustrated but not surprised at the VAR storm at full-time after his side rescued a point courtesy of a late Toyosi Olusanya goal.

He said: "My view was miles away but I've seen it back, it hits a hand and apparently that wasn't checked so I'm not sure what VAR is there for then."

The Buddies boss added: "I can't say I'm surprised! Frustrating, yeah. Did we earn the right to win the game? Potentially not.

"But if that decision goes our way we are certainly back in the game a lot quicker and we can relax a little bit more.

"We had opportunities to win it at the end with our own decisions as opposed to relying on VAR."

Quizzed on whether he would seek an apology from referee chief Crawford Allan or the Scottish FA over the decision, Robinson said: "No. It doesn't change anything. There is no point bleating about it, it's not going to change anything.

"There is no point moaning about it, they are not going to change their mind."
