Raith Rovers have sold out their away allocation for the crucial Championship clash against Dundee United next week.

The teams will meet at Tannadice on Saturday, March 30 as the title race looks set to go down to the wire in Scotland's second tier.

Today, Rovers - who sit behind United on goal difference at the summit - confirmed they had sold out all their tickets in less than two hours.

However, it comes amid a controversial decision by the Tangerines to cut Raith's allocation from their previous visit to Tannadice.

Ian Murray's side will be backed by 1,342 away supporters in the City of Discover a week on Saturday. The supporters will mainly be housed in The Shed.

On their last visit to Tannadice, where the game ended 1-0 to the visitors after a fantastic Dylan Easton strike, Rovers were handed 1,950 tickets.

The club says the decision taken by United for the upcoming game will leave The Carling Stand, situated behind the goal, 30 percent empty.

An open letter to Rovers fans from the club's board reads: "Dear supporters, today we learned that Dundee United have reduced our allocation for the upcoming top-of-the-table clash.

"Despite our supporters voting to increase their allocation for both visits to Starks Park this season, we will only receive 1,342 tickets for next Saturday compared to the 1,950 tickets allocated for our last visit to Tannadice.

"This reduction means that a significant number of our season ticket holders will miss out on attending what will be one of our biggest matches in several years.

"At a time when promoting our national game should be a priority, limiting opportunities for away fans to enjoy such a match is not only disappointing but also frustrating."
