Nobel Mendy completes Real Betis exit after Rangers collapse

Nobel Mendy has signed for Rayo Vallecano after a move to Rangers collapsed.

Russell Martin looked set to make the centre-back his latest signing and it seemed imminent at the end of last week.

Real Betis had agreed deals with both the Ibrox club and Rayo Vallecano and the 21-year-old has appeared to plump for Glasgow as the next destination in his career.

However, it fell apart and was off again in recent days with some reports since suggesting there may have been an issue with the medical.

But Vallecano have now swooped in and concluded a loan deal with the player staying in La Liga instead of making the switch to Scotland.

A short announcement on social media reads: "Nobel Mendy, new Rayo Vallecano player. The defender arrives on loan from Real Betis."
