The Rangers Supporters Association have issued a statement calling for Russell Martin to be sacked.

The fan group have revealed their position of belief that Martin should be "relieved of his duties with immediate effect".

The statement was released on Thursday morning, in the aftermath of the 9-1 aggregate loss to Club Brugge in the Champions League play-off round.

Rangers lost 6-0 on the night in Belgium with supporters inside the stadium chanting: "Martin, get to f***".

A makeshift display of the word "Cowards" was also displayed in the away end at full-time.

Supporters back in Glasgow draped a banner calling for Martin to be sacked on the gates at Ibrox.

It simply read: "Get him out now before the seats are empty".

The Rangers Supporters Association have stated they will "always stand behind the team" but felt it necessary to speak out about the current head coach.

On social media, a message from the group read: "It is our considered view that the current Head Coach should be relieved of his duties with immediate effect.

"The Rangers Supporters Association will always stand behind the team, but we also have a duty to speak up."

Quizzed on his future and whether he has any fears over his job, Martin said: "No. Patrick and Kevin, I've had a chat with them already, they've been amazingly supportive.

"They understand that this might take time. They knew that before I came in. They understand the club's position and where we're at.

"Now the focus is on Sunday."
