Steven Gerrard has insisted he didn't pull out of the chance to become Rangers manager for a second time because he "didn't fancy it".
The Ibrox hero has stated he will always "want to help that club," but took himself out of contention after discussions with club chiefs earlier this year.
Gerrard discussed the potential of a return to Rangers to replace Russell Martin this season with Ally McCoist on TNT Sports' Ally's Social Club.
In the latest episode, Gerrard hinted he was left uncertain by matters behind the scenes as he discussed needing the right tools and people surrounding him to ensure success in Glasgow.
But he categorically denied any suggestion he "didn't fancy" a return to Rangers as he detailed his "special affinity" for the Ibrox side.
"It's not that I didn't fancy it," he said.

"Rangers is obviously your club more than it is my club, but I have got a special affinity for Rangers now.
"I want to help that club. I want to help that club.
"But you have to have the right tools, and you have to have the right opportunity to help that club because I know how difficult it is.
"I understand when you put that on your neck and your shoulders, how heavy it is, you know that more than anyone else.
"If you get the right tools and you are surrounded by the right people, I've got the confidence in myself that I can make Rangers good again.
"But if I am not surrounded by the right people and haven't got the right tools, I'm not a magician.
"But that's out of respect for Rangers that I would only take it if it was right as well."
