Scotland manager Steve Clarke has flown to America to run the eye over more potential World Cup training bases.
FIFA have asked participating nations to list their preferred base camps for next summer’s finals, with a deadline of January 15.
A list of brochures for options in host cities and beyond were allocated to the Scottish FA, with the governing body keen to secure suitable accommodation and training facilities close to Boston – where they face Haiti and Morocco in their opening Group C games.
With concerns raised over the options on the table FIFA have now given nations the chance to pick an HQ as they see fit.
And Clarke is now in America with assistant manager Steven Naismith checking out facilities in the Boston, New York and Charlotte, North Carolina.
Scotland play their first two group games against Haiti and Morocco in the Gillette Stadium, Boston and Brazil in Miami, Florida.
A 26-man squad will assemble at the end of May for a mini camp in Scotland before intensive preparations get underway in Florida.

Due to arrive at their tournament HQ by June 8, the Boston area is the preferred base camp while North Carolina would offer offer equidistant travel between the two match venues.
The SFA are putting the finishing touches to play the Ivory Coast and Japan in March before a send-off game against Curacao at Hampden in June. The final preparation match would come against Peru in the United States.
