Ian Durrant has urged Rangers to make a statement by signing Lewis Ferguson, adding some Scottish steel to their side.
Following Monday night's defeat to Hearts, Ibrox legend Ally McCoist branded the team "mentally weak" and raised concerns about the lack of Scottish players in the team, after none featured at Tynecastle.
McCoist pointed to the fact his successful Rangers teams always had a strong Scottish core, and one of his teammates was Durrant.
The former midfielder agrees with the point and thinks Bologna midfielder Ferguson, who could be looking for a move this summer, could be one solution.
He said on the 5 Stars podcast: "It's just modern football now, but we have not got a lot of Scotsman in the team.
"When I played the team was littered with Scotsman and we picked up the best Scottish players.

"If we could get a Lewis Ferguson in there that would put a statement down.
"You are getting quality, but you are getting a boy that knows what the club is all about. I hate going on about it, but that has been a dying breed in that last few seasons.
"I spoke to the chairman [Andrew Cavenagh] many a time about the DNA of the club, and we need more people that are Rangers orientated.
"I think we are missing a trick there, and we should be identifying players that know what the club is all about."
Ferguson's uncle Barry recently played down the chances of him ending up at Ibrox this summer, as much as he's love it.
"A lot of people say I am biased, and of course it's not been the season he probably wanted in Bologna," he said.
"He has been in and out of the team, which is surprising. I think he will probably look to move at some stage, and why would you not be interested in a player of his quality?
"It depends on the price. I'll be honest with you I don't know what figure Bologna would be looking for, but I think there will be a number of teams interested in Lewis."
