Nicolas Raskin has sent an emotional message to Danny Rohl following his departure from Rangers to take charge of RB Salzburg.

After around a week of speculation, the German was finally announced as the new head coach of the Austrian side, part of the Red Bull group, yesterday. A short while later and also as expected, Derek McInnes was confirmed as his replacement.

There is no doubt Rohl improved Rangers as a whole after taking over from Russell Martin, dragging them back into a title race despite a disastrous start under the former Scotland international.

One of the players the 37-year-old worked wonders with was Raskin. The Belgian was out the picture under Martin after a fall out, left in the stand for key games and told he could find a new club.

But he stayed put and outlasted the head coach before becoming a key figure under Rohl. It was a return to the form that made the 25-year-old a Belgium international and that Rangers fans had seen before Martin's arrival.

It is no surprise, then, that Raskin had kind words for Rohl as he moved on.

Posting a picture of the pair chatting after a game at Ibrox, he wrote: "Thank you for everything gaffer. It's been a pleasure to work with you."
