Alan Burrows has shared his thoughts on his departure from Aberdeen FC, describing his tenure as an "amazing and fascinating journey."
The chief executive stepped down earlier this week for family reasons, ending a three-and-a-half-year stint that saw the Dons lift the Scottish Cup, enjoy regular Hampden appearances, and experience significant commercial growth.
Reflecting on his time at Pittodrie, Burrows expressed genuine affection for both the club and the region.
In a LinkedIn post, he said: "I reflect on joining AFC in the wake of one of the club's most difficult periods, but finding an environment and a workforce that was still so enthused and motivated by the plan for progress."
While acknowledging "frustrating bumps along the way," Burrows highlighted several achievements during his time at the club.
These included the Scottish Cup win in May 2025, a third-place Premiership finish, and consecutive campaigns in the Europa Conference League group and league stages.
Off the pitch, record figures in turnover, commercial revenue, retail revenue, memberships, season-ticket sales, and player trading were also noted.
However, Burrows was keen to share the credit with staff at both Pittodrie and Cormack Park.
He said: "None of that is mine.
"It’s down to the talent and hard work of the amazing staff at both Pittodrie and Cormack Park, past and present, who I was exceptionally proud to work alongside.
"They are outstanding people and I will really miss them."

Burrows also spoke about the bond he developed with Aberdeen supporters and his effort to immerse himself in the culture of the city and region.
He said: "I hope Dons fans know that I gave everything I could and, along the way, built up a real affinity for AFC, its people, the area, and the supporters.
"Whether that was in Orkney, Shetland, Lewis and Harris, Dubai, Edinburgh, in the heart of the Granite City or out in the Shire or across the continent on duty, I loved meeting you all and experiencing the many ups and downs of a brilliant football club."
His sentiments echoed the club's official departure announcement, where he described his time at Pittodrie as a privilege and regarded the Scottish Cup success as a career highlight.
He said: "I’ve had so many fantastic memories, none more special than that unforgettable weekend of 24 May 2025 – that will live with me forever."
Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack paid tribute to Burrows, praising his leadership and contribution to the club's progress.
He said the club is now in a "much better commercial position" and noted improvements in fan engagement and infrastructure during Burrows' tenure.
For the time being, Burrows plans to take a break before deciding on his next step.
He concluded: "Thanks.
"For me, it’ll now be a time to reflect on the good and the bad, recharge, and go again soon."
